Sumamala Devulapally born into a family of music enthusiasts, started to learn both vocal and Veena at a very young age from her father Sri Devulapally Jayanth Kumar, who is a disciple of Sri T. Partha Sarathi (Flutist & himself is a disciple of veteran Nadaswaram Vidwan Sri Paidiswamy.)

Later on she was blessed to finesse her Veena skills from Smt Jayanthy Kumaresh, a well known veena artist in her own class. She now continues her musical training under guru Dr. Mala Swamy from Chennai.

Sumamala maintains a distinctive style of the exquisite tonal quality, speed and versatility that have been magical hallmarks of her style of playing Veena.

She received a Diploma in music and a masters degree in computers. She holds Masters degree in Carnatic music from University of Silicon Andhra, California.

She worked as an artist in All India Radio Hyderabad .

Her performances always evoke great responses from audiences in India and US. She currently is running a music school in Powell Ohio USA.
